Abstract

The Colombian legal system contemplates professional secrecy as a concept with multiple legal implications. However, both for lawyers as to the generality of the population, the consequences of their violation are not clear, when they reveal information that they have obtained from the professional relationship with their clients. This article is an analysis of how that concept is contemplated in the Colombian legal system, covering several of the professions in which its custody is a duty, to later determine the implications of its disclosure by lawyers (litigants, adviser consultants, among others) in disciplinary matters, for which the Law, jurisprudence and doctrine are considered.
