Abstract
The objective of this project was to diagnose the environmental impacts and propose mitigation strategies in the remaining sub Andean forest ‘El Espejo’, located in the micro-basin of the Ambalá creek, immersed in the campus of the Universidad de Ibagué. El Espejo is a fragment of forest with a hectare of extension that conserves a great diversity of native species of the sub-Andean ecosystem. In order to conduct this study, three methodological phases were implemented: diagnosis, analysis and proposal. As a result, there was strong pressure on the area and negative impacts were identified, associated with contamination by solid waste, litter accumulation, which do not allow the natural regeneration of the forest, and fragmentation of the area. From this result, strategies of protection and sustainable management were proposed, which allowed to project this remaining area as a conservation and protection space.
